3 Russians Walk Into a Bar…

This is one of the funniest jokes I’ve heard in a while:

Two men meet on the street and one of them asks the other, Is it true that you formed a musical group? “Yes, a quartet.” How many? “Three.” Who? “Me and my brother.” You have a brother? “No.”

  1. Yeah, including me. You will not be surprised to hear that I don’t get it. I think I have a sense of humor that focuses more on poop jokes and limericks…

  2. I’m not usually one for absurdist humor, but this joke seemed more logical and grim to me. But in the end, you either laugh or you don’t. Which reminds me of a footnote from David Foster Wallace‘s “Big Red Son,” from his latest collection of essays, Consider the Lobster, which I had been enjoying immensely over my year-end holiday:

…the relation between a Calvin Klein ad and a hard-core adult film is essentially the same as the relation between a funny joke and an explanation of what’s funny about that joke.
